Ok I'll try to keep this short and simple. So I'm going on a cruise in October and the cruise line is going to put $500 hold on my checking account unless I have a major credit card, upon which then no hold is placed. So I need a major credit card but I'm not sure which route to go. Do I apply for one at my bank, or do I apply for one online like at Capitol One's website? Or would it be acceptable to just apply for a major credit card through a store, such as the Best Buy Mastercard or something like that? I just don't know which one would be easier to get. Any and all help are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I personally would go to a bank, a bank you already do business with, and apply for a credit card at the best interest rate they will give you.

I would most definitely NOT go on a cruise with only a $500 "guarantee." If you get sick or there is some other problem you would have some serious problems getting help/treatment without sufficient funds.
