I have been on Probation since Aug of 2007. I had to wait for a few other court hearings before I could ask for a transfer. When I was able to my Probation Officer kept putting it off. Telling me that there was no one there to do transfers. Something like the person that does them retired. Well when the new worker came in she had to go to training for three weeks. So I was put off again. I finally met with her two days ago to start the transfer. She asked me what took so long for me to request a transfer, and I told her what my PO told me. She then told me that there were people in the building that could have done my transfer. I have a job lined up and a place to stay. Now that it took so long for the transfer I might not have the place to stay or the job. This is not my fault. They told me that it would be a short precess. Now there telling me more than a month. Is there anything I can do about them not telling me the truth?

They lied, huh? Don't surprise me none. Nope, there ain't nothing you can do about them. They lie, and then they laugh about it among themselves. They're scumbags!!

There IS something you can do about your transfer, though. Instead of relying on them to do it for you, you can do it yourself. I wrote about it at the top of the criminal law page. Go read it.

I was told by a public defender that it was up to the receiving state whether they would accept a probation transfer or not. That all they could do here is submit the paperwork. Is that not true?

It's true, however they have rules too. If an applicant meets the criteria set out by THOSE rules, they're going to have a real hard time turning him down.
