We share our well pump with my mother next door.
We had a special tank installed when we completed our home to give us more pressure.
In the last couple of weeks we have noticed an extreme increase in water pressure.
Since two households run off this well, I was wondering if this was a reason for concern?
It just seems funny that we have all this pressure now and didn't before?
Can you give me some suggestions?

Check to see what the pressure gauge reads. Typical homes run between 30 and 60psi. You will need to watch it come on, build up, then shut off. This is the pressure range... say 30-50, or 40-60, etc. If it is holding constantly at one pressure, then the pump is likely running constantly. If that is the case, then it is likely the pressure switch is bad, or has something in the contacts (usually ants), or has a blocked feed tube or pipe under the switch.

If the pressure switch turns out to be defective, check the air in the air bladder tank. It is possible that the air is set incorrectly, which caused the pump to pulsate on and off frequently when water was being used. This will cause the pressure switch contacts to weld closed.

If the pump is running constantly, it will potentially blow pipes, or the tank. It also will cause your electric bill to skyrocket.

Yes, read the gauge and get back with us. It's not likely it will cause a catastrophic failure since your system most likely has a pressure relief valve on it, but it will really stress your pump and needs to be corrected.
