I have tried other forums and no luck yet on getting this problem figured out.:confused:
I got this computer for Mothers day and already it is giving me MAJOR headaches, darn it anyway.
It has Windows XP Home Edition on it. The CD-ROM is a LITE-ON COMBO SOHC-4836K and the DVD is an Optiarc DVD RW AD-1790A. I have had no trouble with either one until about 2 weeks ago.
No matter what type of CD or DVD I put in, it does not recognize what is on them, however it does recognize what type the disk is. {I find this strange but have no idea what is causing this.}
I have uninstalled both then re-installed and even installed only one at a time to see if there were hardware issues but everything checked out OK on the device manager no matter what. I have checked the drivers and they are all up to date. Tried to even roll back the drivers but that did nothing for me either.
I recently installed a microphone in order to copy some cassettes to the computer then burn CD's. (This music is written and sang by my late father and I hoped to put it on CD's for all of my brothers by Christmas! LOL Looks like it may not get done after all.) Anyway, is it possible that this microphone is the problem? I have NOT installed anything other than this on the computer. Also, I haven't burned but maybe 3 CD's since I got this computer!
Could somebody rescue this blasted computer for me?
Thank you so much for your help, in advance!
