Hi everyone. I'm from Los Angeles and new to the site. Just wanted to say thanks for all of the great information.

First off, in 2005 I was convicted for felony: lease\rental for manufacture of a controlled substance. The renter of my property was growing one room of mj.
Anyhow, I pleaded "no contest" since I was the caretaker of the house and was given the following punishment: 3 years probation/ a recommended drug counseling course from my P.O./ 90 days Caltrans or 90 days jail. Or course, I chose Caltrans.

Here's my concerns: I have to go to court next week regarding the status of my probation terms. It'll be about 3 months until my 3 yr probation sentence expires. So I finished the drug counseling program, paid all probation fines, reported each month as told... BUT have not completed the Caltrans program(only 26 days complete). Also, this was my first offence, I have not been in any trouble before or since. No tickets, arrests, etc.

Please advise me with what you think I need to do:

a.) "do I need to hire a lawyer to defend me again?"
b.) "can I or should I use a public defender?" (how do I do this?)
c.) "report to court and represent myself?"

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks again!

So why didn't you do the Caltrans? Fell out of bed and forgot what you were doing?

Get an attorney.

To get a PD you need to go there and fill out forms and hope you don't make too much money and qualify to get one appointed to you.

If you reprsent yourself you have a fool for a client.
