Hi.
I have a problem with a Model 600 series MTD Lawn tractor. I can get it to turn, and it will run a bit with ether sprayed in the carburetor neck.

I know this points to a fuel issue, but want to troubleshoot the kill switches. I believe there are three in this model, One on the seat, one on the cutting height, and one on the clutch/brake.

Does one operate a fuel cutoff? There is what appears to be a solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor, and since I just got the tractor second-hand, I'm not familiar with whether the kill switches will allow the starter to turn on not.

Almost forgot. The engine is the 14.5 HP OHV engine.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi. I traced the electrical problem to the switch in the speen control/park brake. Once I cleaned the contacts, it started right up. The next day, however, I found my carb and oil were full of gas. The float in the carb is apparently stuck in the "empty bowl" position. I'll try to clean the bowl out with some carb cleaner today.
