I have a Craftsman lawn tractor, Model No. 917 25170. I would like to know what the pin-out, or terminal markings are on the ignition switch?

Is there any lettering on the base ? (B)attery, (I)gnition, (S)tarter. Do you know how to use an ohm meter ?

I have the same problem. The INDAK switch has only a patent number on it. We need the pin out to check the internal connectivity of the switch. (With a VOM.)

If you have a vom meter then there usually is no more then 4 terminals. Ign, acc, start, battery.
Start only works in 1 position, Off and ign will only chow a connection in the on position. While in on position there should be a dead terminal.. That should be start.

Dave,
FROM ALL I can see the Craftsman, Scott, Murray, TroyBuilt and even some John Deer tractors all use the INDAK switch. There are six pins on the switch. In the following 9wing arrangement: XXX (kill)
(hot)XXX XXX(start path)
(start path)XXX XXX(lights)
XXX (case ground)
In the off position, there is continuity between the kill terminal and case ground.
In run, there is NO continuity between any terminal on the switch.
In Light position, there is connectivity between the hot and the light terminal.
In Start battery power is applied to the start terminal and power energizes the starter relay.
Hope that helps.
I took mine all apart and also followed all the wires on the entire mower. The kill circuits were the problem on mine due to corrosion on the contacts, not the switch.
Hope that helps.
