I got my period on August 1st and had unprotected sex on the 6th and 7th is that to soon after my period to get pregnant?

While not a prime time, yes it is possible, if you are trying, you may want to research the best times to make better use of the sexual activity.
If you are not wanting to be pregnant, then you don't have unprotected sex, and you use at leats 2 forms of birth control since no method is 100 percent

If you happen to be one of those women who ovulate sooner than the norm (and ovulation can vary every now and then) than yes... you can become pregnant by having sex at the end of or soon after your period is over. I have a beautiful daughter who is proof of that... :)
There is no 100% safe time to avoid pregnancy... unless you don't have sex.
As Fr_Chuck suggested, to lessen the odds of an unplanned pregnancy, don't have unprotected sex... use birth control properly every single time.
