1991 Civic Honda CX won't start periodically. Has been checkec by three different mechanics unable to find the problem. It sometimes also jerks when I accelerate. Help?

I had a Chevrolet that did that... started for me every time, but occasionally would not start for my husband. Took it to the shop over and over, had this wire and that worked on. In the end, it turned out, the chip in his key was going bad. Gave him my key (I only used it to start the car when he couldn't anyway!) and all was well.
