Hi,

I had a root canal a few months ago (the pain before I got the crown was SOOO horrible I don't even like to think about it. Getting a root canal done was cake compared to the pain beforehand).

It now feels like the pain is "coming back" to that exact tooth even though I had a root canal and a crown replacement. Would anyone know why or what I should do?

Hi Ivets... I've had root canal treatment... not nice

I think you might need to have the tooth drained again or hopefully just some anti-biotics, sounds like a bit of infection to me.
Sometimes if you've had root canal treatment every now and again it can play up a bit, but usually after a few days it will settle down again, that's what my dentist told me.
The best thing to do is phone your dental practice and ask for some advice, if you can't get hold of them go to your GP, who will I suspect give you acourse of anti-biotics.

Don't leave it to long though

Takecare

Also you might want them to check the teeth beside it... I have heard of them going bad a result of the other one being bad.

One more thing, I had a friend that was diagonsed as having a tooth problem when it was really an inner ear problem. You might take that into consideration as well.

Could be they missed some of the root.

Could be you have some infection going on in there.

You might want to consider having another dentist look at it if you can't really trust the one who did this work for you.

If the root canal was done on a molar there could be an extra canal that might have been missed. You might need a bite adjustment. The root might be cracked. There might be infection still present.

You should go back to your dentist and have him/her take an x-ray to be sure there is no infection. If there is, you will probably be given an antibiotic and the dentist will have to figure out where it's coming from. Like I said, it could be an extra canal or you might need to have some surgery to clean out the infection and seal the tip of the roots.
