You are kind of young to be setting really definite goals as to what you are going to do in life. In the next five to ten years, you will have many choices to make as far as the things that you will want to do in your life. There will also be many things that you will experience that will affect the choices that you make. It's good though, that you do have some ambition toward what you will eventually want to do. As a parent, I have always been proud of my children having ambition to do anything that is positive, proactive and would make them happy.

I think that you should try to pursue your dreams but leave your options open for right now as to what you will want to do. You could be both a vet and a singer. You could be lots of things! After all, it's your dreams and ambition.

Someday, you will need to be doing the things that will make you happy because you will no longer be under the "wings" of your parents. Please read my profile to see some of the things that I do to make a living that are also things that I am now living as my dream to do. https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/members/clough.html

Many parents don't want their children to want and/or pursue careers that might be things that involve the arts because they are afraid that their children aren't going to be making any money doing them. I can understand those types of fears. It's really tough to "make it" in anything in the arts. They want their children to be successful, happy at what they do and also be able to make enough money so that they can take care of themselves someday. Unfortunately, being successful and happy doesn't necessarily mean making lots of money.

I do remember when I was your age, that I wanted to be a scientist of some kind when I grew up. That was a goal that I had. But, things went a different route. I guess that you could say that I'm a "scientist" in the sense that I know a lot about the "inner workings" and "discover" things all the time about singing, playing musical instruments, performing, acting, building things, teaching, selling things, being friends with people, helping others, etc. So, in a way my first dream has been fulfilled.
