View Full Version : Igniter will not glow in my gas dryer

I have a whirpool duet gas dryer that will not dry my cloth,the drum spins .I removed the bottom panel and put the power on did not see any glow or any thing else turn on .Can some one pin point the problem?

The ignitor might be bad. I've had to replace this in my gas oven and I would think a dryer would be similar. It will probably look something like this (http://appliancecarestore.com/appliance_parts/washers_dryers/WE4X739.jpg).

Since electrical parts are generally not returnable, you need to make very sure that this is the problem before purchase. Once you remove it from the dryer, you may be able to see a break in the coil. If not, you should check the continuity of the coil with an ohmmeter to see if there is an invisible break. If there is continuity, I would look elsewhere for the problem.

P.S. Unplug the dryer and shut off the gas before working on it.
