Hi All:

I am a 21 year old female who has one sexual partner... I had my last cycle from July 15th until the 21. On July 24-26 I had unprotected sex, but my partner always uses the "pull out" method! This may sound DUMB but we've been doing this for 8 months and I haven't become pregnant! Anyway on August 1st I noticed blood on the tissue after I urinated, and I was scared because I knew my cycle wasn't due yet! I thought it could be a UTI symptom, so I just went to sleep. The next day which was August 2nd I still was spotting. It also became irritating when I urinated, so I got meds for UTI symptoms! The bleeding has stopped since that day August 2nd! And I feel GREAT! Just tired, but Im usually sleepy! I did have a UTI, but my sister says UTI spotting should be light and kind of pink! I just am confused as to whether it was just a UTI thing... (never had one before) especially never heard of one with blood in urine. Or could it have been implantation!
Thanks,

Implantation spotting is somewhat rare but not impossible. Eventually, you will become pregnant using the pull-out "method" so this may be your month.

UTI symptoms can differ from person to person. If your doctor gave you meds and said it was a UTI, it was. Not everyone will spot the way your sister described. Spotting, in fact, can be caused by several things. Wait a few days to see what happens, then I suggest calling your doctor for a folloiw up, pregnancy test, and if negative, a reliable birth control method.

Pull-out method does not work... 8 months or not, you're going to get pregnant if you don't smarten up.

Unless it was burning when you urinated, odds are that it wasn't a UTI. You could have had some light spotting; most women experience this. It could also have been a minor hemorrhoid which was causing the bleeding.

Sounds like a UTI to me. When there is blood in the urine it is called hematureia (I think I spelled that right), and is common with UTIs. UTIs don't burn all women, it depends on where the UTI is. If it's in the bladder it may burn, or you may get cramps in one side or the other. If it is in the kidneys it usually doesn't burn, but rather causes blood in the urine.

As everyone else has said, the pull out method is NOT a method of birth control. You can become pregnant just as easily as if he doesn't pull out.
