How can I stop child support in Ontario Canada for my oldest daughter? She is 28, has been living in Germany for the last 7 years (not with her mother), and graduated as an MD. She returned to Canada to do her required 2 year internship to get her Canadian certification. She works as practicing doctor, an intern, in a hospital in Labrador, makes more money than me, just bought her own home and a new car.

I am still stuck paying support to my ex for her. How can I make this stop? (garnished by the FRO) Surely there has to be some rational end to how long fathers can be bled by their exes for grown up kids.

There is apparently a form for the FRO requesting payments stop, but if my ex denies the facts, or ignores the FRO, I apparently have to pay until I die. Help!

Are you in arrears or is it still current? If you are in arrears you have to pay until you pay it off. Otherwise you may want to file a petition to end support which can mean going back to court.

No arrears, my pay has been garnisheed for 11 years now, over $40,000.00 paid to my ex, for my adult kids, the 28 year old I mentioned, and a 27 year old.

You need to contact an attorney and file to have the child support ended. I think you've been paying this way too long. The judge will hear your motion and sign an order ending this free lunch.

Go talk to your daughter. If she won't talk to you, say you will talk to her co-workers, bosses etc. If that don't work, stay outside her hospital/house with a sign "Rich Doctor Daughter _____, bleeding poor father dry'. Maybe some shame will get to her. Otherwise I hear they got discounts on AK-47's in Arizona this month.

This is a horrible and incorrect response.

The daughter has nothing to do with this. Child support isn't paid to the child. Second, if he were to do what you suggest he could and most likely would be arrested for harassment.

Please do not post answers to questions you have no clue about.

This thread is over a year old and OP hasn't returned no need for new answers.

The 'child' is a 28 year old medical doctor who just bought her own house?

Sorry I didn't see the thread is old.

Yes - but child support actually has little to do with the child. The child cannot stop it, the child cannot change it and the money doesn't go to the child.

Yes, yet this 28 year old child can still talk to her mother. That was the advice I was giving. Maybe this overgrown child doesn't even know that her mom is still milking the father.

And maybe this has absolutely nothing to do with the child whatsoever (it doesnt) and should be handled in court like adults instead of in a childish manner that you suggest (which is also illegal, by the way)

It is not illegal to:

1) contact your daughter to make her aware she is still receiving child support despite being a medical doctor and buying a house.

2) stand outside her hospital on a public street with a sign.

3) stand outside her house on a public street with a sign.

Check the constitution.

1) true - except the child isn't the one receiving child support.
2) if the sign is a personal attack, defamatory, or otherwise harassing, it is.
3) see answer two.

The constitution does not provide the ability to illegally harass someone. Freedom of speech does not mean you can say anything you want about someone.

Understand the constitution. And this is Canada, also. So understand THEIR constitution too.

I do.

Edited to add: its legal to protest organizations, not people.

1) 28 year old daughter, not child, may not be aware that mom is milking the father and talk to her mom and influence her to stop.

2) Don't know laws in Canada. Can't see a sign saying "Please ask your mom to stop asking me for child support for you since you are a rich doctor now" as being a personal attack, defamatory or harassing. Just facts.

3) see number 2.

Staying quietly in a public area with a sign is not harassment especially if the sign doesn't distort the facts. Yeh, Canada. You are all liberal down there. I bet if the sign says "Stop killing cows, its murder!", and stand outside the house of the president of the local meat plant, it would be well accepted.

Try it. Explain to the police officer that tells you to leave or be arrested that its your right. He won't care. Its harassment.

You can stand outside of the meat business. You cannot stand outside of his home.

And again - this is a legal matter, not a "lets discuss it with the kid" matter. It can only be cleared up in court.
