I have just dis-assembled a 2 and 1/2 year old Kenmore/Whirlpool (made in Mexico) H2 front loader washer. The bearing/seal failed. Sears asked $716 to repair a washer that cost $799!

I intend to replace the rear tub assembly which includes the bearing and seal,
The "spider" bracket is soiled but perfectly intact. Thus, I do not need to replace the inner stainless steel tub assembly.

My question: what lubricant should I put on the shaft after cleaning it and before placing the inner tub back in place within the bearing/seal opening in the outer rear tub?

Thanks,

Wheel bearing Grease comes to mind. See if there is grease available from Sears at www.searspartsdirect.com. Post the model #, so I can have a look at what it looks like.
