Hello -

I'm wanting to enroll in college for my BA, the college I graduated from closed in 2001. I graduated in 96, how or where can I get my transcripts from this closed school.

The college I went to is in Dallas, TX, the name is Executive Secretarial School, College for Business.

cbarrent,
Did you ever find out how to locate your transcript? I'm in the same boat as you. I graduted in '87 and need my transcript too. I cannot find anything on the web about Jan Rabb either. Do you recall who the Dean was?
I found an answer to a similar question re: transcripts and they suggested contacting the state department of education.

cbarrent,
I've done some more searching and came across some information from the Texas Workforce Commission. It indicated to contact the following institution:

ESS College of Business, Inc.
Ms. Sharon Hunt
Court Reporting Institute of Dallas
1341 W. Mockingbird Lane, Suite 200 East
Dallas, Texas 75247
214-350-9722
Send $5 cashiers check or money order - payable to CRID

I'm going to call them on Monday. If it turns out to be a dead end, I'll let you know.
Here's the link I found with the information: Record Retention Locations for Closed Schools (http://www.twc.state.tx.us/svcs/propschools/clolist.html)

I attended Denver Business College and graduated with a Graphic Design Diploma in 1990. I have just completed my studies for my AAS degree in Applied Management from NAU however I have found out they are still waiting on my official transcript from DBC and I cannot get my degree until then. How do I get an official transcript from DBC? I attended the Tempe, AZ campus. Thanks

Get all your information together before requesting your transcript. You'll need to include your social security number, the address where you want the transcript sent, your phone number, a statement authorizing the college or university to release the information, and your signature.
#
Step 2

Find the address and phone number of the college or university from which you graduated. You may be able to find this in the phone book or on the Internet. Remember that the Registrar's office usually handles transcript requests.
#
Step 3

Call ahead to make certain your transcript is readily available. If you have any outstanding fees or if your records are not on computer, your request may be delayed.
#
Step 4

Check if your alma mater has a Web page. Many schools now handle transcript requests online, saving you time and postage.
#
Step 5

Send your request - along with any pertinent processing fees - to the Registrar's office of the college or university from which you graduated. Allow at least a week for processing; more if your alma mater happens to be a large school.

I hate to tell anyone this, but I also attended Executive Secretarial School. The Court Reporting Institute of Dallas told me they do not have records going back prior to 1994. It seems ESS was shut down by the government not too long after 1994. When I questioned a community college about the courses I took, because I was told they were transferable by ESS, I found sadly that they were not. All the money spent for those classes were not going to be useful to further my education, I would have to start over.
