I hope I have the right area for questions. My man and I bought a house together. His name is on the mortgage, but both names are on the deed. We have been together for 11 yrs. We are not married and live in Florida. I know common law isn't recognized here. What do I need to do to get my 11 yrs worth of living here out of this? I am leaving. I have worked the entire time, have contributed and maintained this home. He had been on the road for 8 of the 11 years, being here on weekends only. He made the house pmts, power, water, phone, while I took care of the rest. Whatever that may be. Anyway, he refuses to give me one red cent. Says I have not done a thing. Yeah, right. Please help or lead me to someone who can. Thank you so much! I am at my wits end... karen

You and he have to sell the house, or he will have to buy your 1/2 out.
You may have to try and take him to court.

Don't let him push you around; you are both owners, but do you know whether your ownership is a cotenancy or joint tenancy with right of survivorship? Also, do you have any kids, together or with someone else? And do you have a will?
