Do you think that nursing is a good pre-med course?
Because I'm planning to take up nursing then decide whether to continue it to medicine proper or not. If ever I don't have the guts anymore to continue it at least I have a profession. Would someone please help me to understand the whole process when taking up medicine.. . Thanks

My wife has been a nurse all her working life... she's 56 yesrs old at this time. Her biggest complaint is "hospital politics" which conflict with her "patient first" attitude. Be sure you have fortitude to confront the "money people", they can be frustrating... good luck...

I think that's a good idea. If you can come out of undergraduate studies with a degree that can get you a job you can even work in that field while you pursue a future career in medicine.
If your undergraduate grades weren't good enough to be accepted into medical school you may be able to enhance your application with experience that you gain as a nurse. Medical schools don't only look at your grades to consider you for admission but a lot of other factors come into play one being your life experiences.

Being a nurse will help you get experience working in the medical field can help you through medical school because you'll be familiar with a lot of clinical medicine. Also, you can probably get letters of references or even have something to write about in your application having worked as a nurse.

I think pharmacy maybe also be a good option. It doesn't seem you'd have trouble getting a job as a pharmacist.

So having such a back up plan I think would be a good idea.
