I have a persian cat that was given to me 3 years ago and I was told at that time that it was a spayed female. Well I just had her shaved for the summer and "she" looks like a male from beneath her tail, (there is a brown pouch beneath her rectum) but when she lays on her back she shows several sets of teats. So my question is: is she male or female?

Male cats have nipples, just like a female.

A female cat has a small v-shaped opening (below her anus) which is her vulva. The inside has no hair but there is hair around the edge of it. There are small but obvious lips, one on either side, much like a human female.

A male cat keeps his penis tucked away when it isn't being cleaned or out for mating. All you will see is a lump. If he is a he and still has his testicles, there will be three lumps covered with fur.

Here's a photo of cat privates. I never realized how similar the two sexes look!
