Hi, every year in junior high we have to write a speech and deliver it to class and there is a competition. I won first place in grades 5, 6 and 7, and 2nd in grade 8, but this year I'm stuck. I have no idea what to write about, and I don't really want to write about something serious. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to give me that I could write about? Thanks! :)

9th grade, aye? Doesn't that mean the first year in a new school for you? If so, how about that transition from and differences between middle school and high school?

Nope, I'm in grade 9 but I'm in Canada and I guess the school system is different here, maybe it's just where I live.
kindergarten - grade 3 = primary
grades 4 - 6 = elementary
grades 7 - 9 = junior high
grades 10 - 12 (or level I - III) = senior high

Ok, I winged it. You're not giving us much to go on with "not very serious"...
Sounds like you've got the skills to put it together nicely: What are some of your interests?

Sorry if I'm being vague... :o
By "not serious" I mean nothing about... drinking and driving, smoking, abortion... cliché/serious topics like those... I'm looking for something more along the lines of a "funny" topic... something I can play with a bit, because I can't be serious, it's just not like me. Haha.
My interests are music, I like human nature I guess you'd call it, like why people do certain things or act a certain way( I'm planning on being a psychiatrist :) ).. ummm my family and technology. Any ideas are welcome it's not like I'm going to shoot you down if you give me one that I won't use , I'm reeeeeeally grateful that your helping me with this. :D
Thanks sososososo much.

kaweemidnight,
Education is a provincial matter, but each city varies. Some high schools are from Grade 9-12, while other are only Grade 10-12. Each city/school board sets up those rules.
Speech ideas: Technology
Do a compare and contrast of kids and technology today vs kids and technology 30 years ago. That also leads to plenty of opportunities to make jokes both at your generation and the older (and graders of your speech) generation.

Good one, Captain!
Another idea from news of late that might tickle your Phychology fancy: there's a lot of "hype" lately over what ought not to get hype, and that is movies. Fictional movies. Currently there is huge hype over "the blasphemous Davinci Code" and the "Too Christian Chronicles of Narnia"
This would be a "People are So Funny" story.
... just a thought...
