The new condenser fan motor for my air conditioner has a purple,brown, green and black wires, the york condenser had red,black, brown and green ,
Is the purple the same as red?

There is a legend/diagram on the side of the new motor follow it and you will not make a mistake.

I would never guess at colors. Over the years they have changed the usage but the diagram on the new motor tells all.
