My wife and I have an 18 year old son who recently graduated from high school and is currently living at home with us. He has been verbually abusive towards both of us for years and is now starting to be phsically abusive to me. He has hit me several times within the last 6 months and I have retaleated once about 2 months ago. The police were called and it was not a very pleasant event although no charges were filed. Last night he threw his cell phone at me and has left a bruise the size of a softball on my leg. I have had it with him. What do I need to do to have him removed from my house? I not only fear for my well being but for my wife's as well. Please help.

You can but you have to give him a written eviction according to your state and then if he doesn't leave go through the court.

You can also have the police evict him, but it can be a long wait

The police don't evict. They have to go through the court and then if he still doesn't leave then the constables or sheriff will make him leave. SOME places the police will come for 15 minutes so the person that is being evicted can get their stuff.
