View Full Version : Possible Issue with Lift Station

My pipes are clogging up and I went out and checked the clean out. It was backed up there to. I rented an Electric snake and ran it as far as I could. I think I hit a 90 and it would go no further, but I'm not sure.
I know it was heading to the Lift Station, that pumps to the City pipes. There is a vent for the lift station, and there is what appears to be tiny pieces of toilet paper and some excrement laying in under the vent.
I'm not a plumber nor a genius, but I'm guessing my problem is the Lift Station at this point. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

If your clean out is overflowing, the blockage is somewhere between Clean Out and Street. It should be relatively easy to find out if your "Lift Station" accepts sewage or not.
I guess, the "90" you've hit is not a 90, but the actual blockage. You have to know how to use power snake. For your 4" main, you should use 3/4" self-feed snake. Once you hit the blockage work it back and forth many times until the tip of the cable cuts through. If you have roots, use root cutting tip. If you have sludge, use heart shape tip. Once unblocked, run the snake couple more times. Always run lots of water through it using garden house.

Thanks. I am going to look at it again in the morning. I haven't opened the Lift Station yet. I am going to do it in the morning. I can run the snake from there in the direction it needs to go. I can attack it from the opposite side this time.
Thanks again.
