I bought a new Electrolux side by side 26 CF and the ice maker from the first day did not work. Customer Support was called, a tech arrived, replaced the ice maker and left. He said there is a batch of bad ice makers "out there". I have had the ref. for 3 weeks now and have 12 ice cubes. Everything else works, but no ice, when I recycle, I get ice dropped in the bucket, but it will not run. What to do? Call CS again and what? Make another appointment 5 to 7 days from now? I have spot players that need ice to cool the water and snacks. I have had to buy 6 bags of ice already in 3 weeks. The sales people will not give me any money for ice, or deliver it. They just laugh. That frosts me to no end.

I gave up- called customer service again. Nice lady answered, said she will contact a different service company to do a complete check. Stand by.

Well the new tech. came out. He checked the electronic valve at the back rear of the frig. He said it is not working right so had to order a new control valve. The one he had had a screw on connection for the water line to the ice maker, but the factory has a push in type connector. We'll see if changing that will work. No frozen lines, or other complications. He took off the back and as soon as he touched the valve, water ran to the ice maker. :-)

I finally got an answer, almost 4 weeks after reporting the problem. Since this is a new refrigerator, replacement parts are not available. So I will be receiving a whole new refrigerator. Now tell me, this company is making refrigerator, right? Somewhere on the assembly line is the part needed to fix my refrigerator. Why can't someone figure out to call the assembly plant, get the part, ship it to the repair company, and get it fixed. This should be far cheaper than shipping out, and shipping back two refrigerators. Wouldn't you think?
The customer service lady suggested I disconnect my in-line cartridge filter to see if that was restricting the water pressure preventing it from working. Well hell, Pat in Indiana is smarter then the two technicians that came to my house to fix the problem. Neither thought to check the pressure of the water coming into the refrigerator.

The tech that called got the wrong answer, electrolux had parts available. The parts were overnighted to my home. The tech came out, replaced the regulator and ice maker. Works great now. Six weeks after getting the ref. delivered I finally got it to work. C.S. at electrolux did a great job. Some of the delay was scheduling on my part, the rest was due to the store I bought it from, got a lot of lip service, but was completely ignored. I will never go back to Hayward's again. I was treated like crap, when I went back, I spoke to the manager, and was treated like a second class scum trailer trash bum. I had been a customer for over 20 years, but no more. I'll pay more rather then go back to Howard's. I complained at corporate, but got lip service, and a promise of a letter of apiology but none came.
In a field of competition, Howard's in So. Cal. is the loser.

The part arrived, called CS and a tech was out the next day to put it in. It worked, but the display panel was wacked out. Called CS again, sent a replacement circuit board out. The tech made another trip, put it in, now everything is new, and it works. Got lots of ice. After 2 and 1/2 months. Still have not heard from Howard's Appliance or got an apiology letter. Thanks.
