We would like to pump water to our garden from a shallow well. The distance is approx. 150 yds. Not exactly sure of the lift distance, I'm guessing at least 35-40 ft. The well is ten feet deep and then it is gradually uphill for about 150yds. I don't know how to figure the lift
But we tried a 1/2hp submersible utility pump that would lift 20ft. And it went about 1/3 the distance with very little pressure. I'm guessing we need at least a 1hp centrifigual type but am not sure.
The object here is low cost and simplicity. We double our city water bill for about 2 mon. so
The $100.00 pump we tried that ran on 110v with a extension cord was perfect if it had worked. It would have paid for itself in one season. As far as I can tell there are no 1hp pumps that run on 110 and then do we need a pressure tank too? My guess is that what we
Are trying to do is going to be too expensive and too complicated. We looked at $200.00 gas powered pumps that I think would do it but before we do that we may as well just pay the extra $80.00 per year as we don't really need a pump for anything else.

THANKS in advance for any help anyone can give!

You are probably going to go with something like this, which is probably out of the price range. Appear to be available at 120 volts but could not be run on extension cord.
