I'm on pobation for 2 years which I was told will cut down to 1 year. I'm current on my fees, which isn't a lot just a thousand dollars. What I want to know is, can I hire a lawyer to cut my probation time or drop it after all my fees are paid? Note that I haven't violated, current with my fees and hopefully have a good reason to want it cut down or dropped. Just want to know if it's possible for sure.

Hello Mrs.

Anything is possible... However, two years is a tiny sentence. No matter what your reasons are, I think they'll fall on deaf ears.

Yes and they won't think about it, till the fines and all money are paid first

Pay up all fines in full before even thinking of asking for any reduction.

In my experience as a PO in MD, the judge has to have a good reason to reduce probation, such as going into the military. As mentioned above, you have to be in full compliance. If you go to the PO and ask him about a reduction, and he says something like "no way", you can always write the judge yourself.

But remember that the judge decided on the length of probation based upon all the factors that were present when the probation was imposed. You have to show him something has changed to get a reduction in the length of the probation.
