By "Surround Sound System" do you mean an AVR unit? Or are you just talking about the speakers themselves.

Please provide the model numbers of the devices you have.

Typically, an AVR unit will allow inputs from several sources. Usually there are three or more HD ports and several analog ports.

You would bring the Audio and Video over to the AVR and it will process the sound and send it to the speakers. The AVR will also output the HD images to the TV.
