I NEED to transfer my probation to Alabama FROM Texas... my PO says - no... but I consulted a lawyer - he says shouldn't be a problem... I'm on 3 yrs and have only about 4 months behind me,, I have even called Alabama and they told me shouldn't be a problem. Recently TX put a band on travel/transferring because of a severe occurrence from Harris County with a probationer that caused the band... does anyone know if this band has been lifted? PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. Maybe this is why she told me NO... she is very hard to talk to and I really didn't ask a lot of questions. My first time to be in trouble and I'm not sure how to handle this.

Hello D:
It doesn't matter what she says. I don't believe there a ban in place. That's just bureaucratic speak for NO.
Go here and follow it to the letter.

If your attorney said it should not be a problem what he is filing with the court to get it approved

Having a 3 year probation and only doing 4 months may prove to be a problem getting approved for transfer by the judge having not been on probation long enough to suit them. It all depends on your original crime and what the original judge has to say about it. Follow the instructions that excon put in his sticky and see what you get. Either they'll approve you or you'll have to wait it out a bit longer in Texas to get approval.
