My best friend wants to finally quit smoking!
She's 14 and I said I'd help by buying her nicorette things she needs, and I looked at the gum and it says not for anyone under the age of 18, should I ignore that and get it for her anyway? Or should I try to find something else for her?

You should tell her to talk to her doctor.

She hasn't even told her dad, there's no way she'll go to a doctor

It's wonderful that you want to help your friend quit smoking. I applaud you for taking an interest in her health and safety.

But honestly, NoHelp is right, she needs the help of an adult. Her parents need to be aware of what is going on, as well. She needs to take responsibility for her addiction and seek help. At 14, she really shouldn't be hooked on smoking... you know that, she knows it. If she is really committed to quitting, she is going to need help.

Encourage her to tell her parents. They will only help her quit. :)

I smoked for 15 years. The only thing that worked was cold turkey and my friend and family's support. If talking to an adult is out of the question just keep supporting her. She will most likely be nasty and short tempered for a week or two, but she will get through it.

Maybe the next time she goes to the doctor for a check up or because she is sick, she can get her mom to step out of the room (if she's in there to begin with) and then talk to the doctor about it. The doctor won't say anything to her mother, and can probably make some suggestions. If the doctor writes a prescription however, the mom might figure it out. Honestly, to have best chance at quitting, the parents need to know. What are they going to do? Ground her for a couple of weeks? The punishment is often not as bad as you think it's going to be, and you live through it. Her parents want what's best for her, and they will help her to stop. I wish her the best of luck.

I know she should tell her dad (she lives with him) but she won't, and I wouldn't either if I was in her position, she's finished her last box and isn't going to buy anymore, I am supporting her, she won't go to a doctor, she doesn't really believe in them for talking to, and she is really glad that I'm going to get her something to help her quit
