I have to replace a Jenn aire microwave that was installed above a built in electric oven installed in a standard wood kitchen cabinet.
Is there a safety issue if I replace this existing oven with a regular counter top type and use the existing framework from the old oven to hold the new one in place?
Thanks

If the present one sits in a standard cabinet you should be OK. Just be sure that the new one will fit in the cabinet with the same amount of room for air circulation..

Do different microwaves need different clearances?
Will the owners manual give the clearance info?
Thanks for your help.

If you purchase a counter top type I doubt that it will give you clearances because it is designed to sit on counter. The literature may make reference to clearance in the back but that probably all you will find. Mine sits in a cabinet and has about 2" on the side and 1" on top. There's not much heat to a microwave but there is some.
