View Full Version : Kenmore 70 Series Washer not spinning or draining

I had an unevenly weighted load in the wash and the machine did it's little dance. By the time I could get there, it had bit the dust.

Now my machine will fill and agitate, but it won't spin or drain.

I've stuck a screwdriver in where the lid switch is and, viola, it starts to work.

Do you think the switch is broken and requires a replacement? Or is it possible that it just needs readjusting?

Often this problem indicates that either the lid is not properly closed down, or that there was a previous unbalance in the load that caused the protection to block the machine from starting up. This is controlled by a switch near the lid. Just have a look there !

To repair the problem : open up the unit and check the condition of that switch : measure the continuity of that switch with a multi meter in Ohms mode. Replace the switch if faulty.

Not a difficult repair, if you are handy.

Please be careful : do not touch anything while the washer is connected to the power.
Always remove the power before repair by taking the power cable out of the socket and place it on the ground.
