What could be causing sewer odors inside, and around the outside of my home? I have a single story with a crawl space. I only notice it when it's hot outside. When the village pumped out the sewer there was a horrible sewer odor inside the home. I was told that when pumping out the sewer this odor should not have entered the home.

When the village pumped out the sewer t Please explain with more details the septic system that you have. Is it a single family septic tank or is this a project septic system?
I was told that when pumping out the sewer this odor should not have entered the home. Pumping out a septic system shouldn't cause odor in your house In short before we can help we need to know exactly what we're dealing with. More details please. Regards, Tom

It is a municipal septic system.
The odor is inside and outside the home. Even before they pumped out the sewer system, but it was a stronger odor while they where pumping it out. It's a constant odor during the day. At night it seems to not be so strong but still present.

If you don't live downwind from the plant then the odor could be coming into your house through a floor drain trap that has lost its seal. If the smell persists you could insttall a running trap,(see image) just downstream of the house clean out. Good luck, Tom
