I have a Trane XE 1100 and my son tried to put a new digital thermostat in for me, in place of an old Honeywell mercury thermostat (model T874R 1053). When he unhooked the wires he didn't tag them, the digital thermostat didn't work and needless to say, He nor I can figure out how to connect the wires again correctly. The wires I have coming from wall are as follows:

Black
Blue
Yellow
Brown
White
Green
Red
Pink
Orange

The Honeywell terminal plate has the following terminal connections:

In order across the top of plate> T W B F X2
Then on second row> G R O Y

Can you help me?
Thanks in advance
Sunny

Here is the wiring diagram for your old thermostat. NOTE you will need the subbase number to be accurate.

To bad you did not take the time to post your new thermostat name and model but the info above should get you going.

I'm sorry, the new unit is a Hunter 42995b. I know that it is the wrong one. It's not made for heat pumps which is what my Trane XE1100 is.

I am also sorry I did not mention that I am the mom of a helpful but impetuous 20 yr. old (that thinks he knows everything). I know nothing about a/c or heating or really anything electrical, I didn't even know he was going to do this until I got home and he was in a panick because he had tried to connect the digital unit and it wouldn't work, then he thought he'd just put the old one back on and none the wiser. Ahhh, but one problem, in his haste to complete this project for his mother, he did not tag the wires or map out the old wiring positions before removing the old unit. Thus the situation we are in today.

I appreciate your response, but That schematic looks like Chinese to me. I need to know what color wire goes on what letter terminal. Can you still help me?

Thanks again,
Sunny

We live in Florida and I can not ell you what a wonderful evening it was last night with no a/c. Needless to say I haven't slept yet.

If it is the wrong thermostat then you cannot use it.

As far as the old thermostat goes I need to know what the subbase number is off the old subbase just for starters.

Here is a color transition list from old to new. This is about all the help I can be except to tell you to stop letting your son play with stuff he knows nothing about. It always causes trouble and that means $$$ you will have to spend.
