I have a Carrier Weathermaker 8000 two speed system. I went away for 4 days this week and left central air on as usual but, I also left my blower running to circulate air while I was gone. When I returned home my central air unit was froze up, which happens occasionally but also my blower was not running. It is just making a loud humming noise. Is it possible that the motor is burned up? If so what is the cost for a new one?

Thanks,
Todd

Yep sounds like the motor needs to be replaced but you could try a new motor capacitor but since it has been humming for 2 days it would be best to replace both the motor and a new capacitor that matches the new motor.

Where would I go to purchase a new motor and capacitor?

Your local HVAC supply house or a dealer or Ebay if you know what you are looking for.
