We have a first floor laundry. In the basement there is a 6" cap on the floor near the water heater. We recently have soap bubbles coming up from this cap when I do the laundry. Does this cap need to be sealed better? Or Do we need to have the drain snaked? Any help would be appreciated. This house is 4 years old and we have lived here for 8 months and this is the first time this has happened.

Thank you,
Amanda

When you washer drains all of the soap bubbles goes down the drain pipe and fill it, this is pretty much normal. The cap should be sealed better with several wraps of teflon tape or Plumbers Goop. If no water came out of the cap you don't really need rodding but if you ever get water then rod through that cap.
