I have a bi metal blade on my SawsAll designed for iron. Before you cut tell us the details about the height of the pipe and location of the cut. Vent stacks can weight hundreds of pounds and caution is needed the closer you get to the ground.

I just finished cutting a cast iron drain. I cut it with a diamond sawlzall blade. I got mine from Lowe's and HomeDepot.

I tried to use a Bi-metal blade, but it took to long. It is possible to cut Cast Iron with a Bi-matal blade if you have the patience.

We use snap or ratchet cast iron cutters, (see image) when we rough a job with cast iron. You can rent them at your local Rent All place.
For a single cut follow the expert advice already given.

Widdershins agrees : I like the Wheeler cutter in the photo on the right. All of our trucks have them.
Welcome back Steve,
Most of our work is done in PVC but if the contract calls for cast iron we use snap cutters for roughing in q job and ratchet/wheeler cutters if we have to make a cut on a vertical piece of cast iron. Regards, Tom
