I am about to be 19 right? And I met a girl and was hanging out with her and then I started liking her and we hookep up and I thought she was 16 which is what I understood to be the legal sex age here in Indiana for a girl. I found out that she was 15, and now I don't know what to do. She told me she was 16 because she didn't want to freak me out, because she liked me. She will be 16 in four months. Should I break things off and wait until then to try and reconnect? I'm just worried to lose her because I like her. But I can't be on no sex offenders list for the rest of my life! I usually don't have these problems, but I would appreciate some help!

You can see her but do not do anything that could get you in trouble.

Most states you have to be 16 or 18 to not be considered jail bait
Indiana law is 16 and you can not be any more than 4 yrs older than her

(1) The person is not more than four (4) years older than the victim.
(2) The relationship between the person and the victim was a dating relationship or an ongoing personal relationship. The term "ongoing personal relationship" does not include a family relationship.
(3) The crime:
(A) was not committed by a person who is at least twenty-one (21) years of age;
(B) was not committed by using or threatening the use of deadly force;
(C) was not committed while armed with a deadly weapon;
(D) did not result in serious bodily injury;
(E) was not facilitated by furnishing the victim, without the victim's knowledge, with a drug (as defined in IC 16-42-19-2(1)) or a controlled substance (as defined in IC 35-48-1-9) or knowing that the victim was furnished with the drug or controlled substance without the victim's knowledge; and
(F) was not committed by a person having a position of authority or substantial influence over the victim.
(4) The person has not committed another sex offense (as defined in IC 11-8-8-5.2) (including a delinquent act that would be a sex offense if committed by an adult) against any other person.

Well first one should look at the entire issue of hooking up and having sex with someone you don't know well enough to even know her age. And that as of your one sex act you can now be charged latter as a rapist if something happens such as perhaps she gets pregnant. Also remember no method of birth control is 100 percent even using two there are still those that get pregnant, so unless you want to be called dad you may want to consider also just waiting. 20 years of paying child support can be hard also.

And to be honest if a 15 year old does not want a relationship that does not include sex, you may have the wrong 15 year old picked out,

Just be friends for now and wait until she is older and it isn't a legal problem.

Yea, that would have been a good idea, but we already lost connection. She was a little immature for me I believe. So I guess it was for the best. I want a long lasting relationship and I don't think that I can find that with a 15 yr old.

True. Best thing to do is find a woman that is a bit older and not into all the partying and materialism.

I have a cousin who was lied to by a girl. She was 16 he was in his 20's. He was told not only by her but her brother that she was 18. He worked with her brother and her brother went along with this whole relationship. That is until her parents found out. He has 2 kids and he won't get to hold for at least another 25 years. Oh yes. He's in for a loooong time. Because some little girl thought it'd be funny to lie and play a game - this man lost his life. And he's telling the truth. He had NO idea! The age difference wasn't that great... if she would've been 18 like she said she was. BE CAREFUL

Thank you erin7799. That is a risk too great to handle, if she was 16 it would have been fine, but she isn't. Luckily, I got out of that one quickly. Because things would have been fine to an extent, but if she lied about her parents being OK with it and they weren't, I could have been in big trouble. So, thanks again!
