Hi Everyone!

For some reason I cannot recall the rule for this...

When preparing a document that requires the format of Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial where do I insert a suffix (Jr. Sr.)??

Usually it's Last Name Suffix, First Name, Middle Initial:

Example: Johnson Jr, Frank, T.

Usually, the suffix comes after the last name so if you are using a last name first format, suffix would come right after the last name without a comma

If you have a list to alphabetize by last name, you've just screwed up your ABC if you put the suffix after the last name. The Chicago Manual of Style says Surname, Given Name, Suffix: Deer, Jim G. Sr.

Remember, it's the first name that makes you John Smith, Junior... otherwise your brother Fred would be a Junior, too.
