How do I figure out what part is wrong with my Rheem Power Vent S/N 1094 D22371: which is powered by the RobertShawcontrols. The water heater won't turn on the gas to heat it up.

I think it's the Ingition Control

See if the glow coil ignitor glows when a call is made for hot water. Most of them are round and mount right next to the burner. Your exhaust fan should also be running with a call for hot water.

All clicks and pings Blower turns on, I hear the system attempting to start up but no color change or glow in the glow plug. It looks like it might have been broken. I cleaned the debris that accumulated on the burner. The water heater seems to be in good shap other that it not turing on the burner. How do I know if it's the gas controler.
Any help is appreciated.

Check the glow bar first to see if it is cracked. There should be voltage going to the glow bar 120 volts. If you have voltage the glow bar is bad. If no voltage the control is bad OR the pressure safety switch near the motor is not working and holding the control off..

Thanks, I'll check the voltage. Then go from there.

Okay, I checke the voltage Its good. But the glow plug doesn't glow. How do I check the valve? I have the schmatic, but now clear how to read it.

If voltage is getting to the glow bar and the glow bar does not glow then the glow bar is defective.

But here is some reading material for you on this heater.

Local HVAC supply house should stock them.

Sometimes you have to modify the mounting bracket.

Energy cut off. Usually they are a one shot deal which means you will be replacing the gas valve BUT I would check further before spending the money just to be sure.

I have a Rheem gas hot water heater less than 2 years old. No hot water I have electricity to the heater. We had a hard rain and my basement got flooded but I don't think it reached the bottom of the heater. The insulation at the bottom is wet. There is a blue light flashing. I turned the unit on and off. Any suggestions?
