I have recently purchased a 1991 Honda Civic hatchback. It's getting GREAT mileage, has 106K miles, and has been good for the past three months.

The past two mornings, it won't start. But, when I come back in the late afternoon, it starts just fine. The day before it didn't start the first time, I had filled it with a tank of gas, after being down to 1/4 tank.

I live in the Rocky Mts, at about 4500 ft. It's not been cold in the mornings; about 70, then 90-95 later.

It's only happened twice, but I'm trying to see what might cause it so it won't happen again.

Thanks!!

. Ensure battery is fully charged and battery terminals and cables are clean.

. Ensure Check Engine Light comes on and goes off after 2 seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II).

. Ensure spark plugs (NGK only), rotor, distributor cap, and spark plug wires have been recently changed.

. Consider replacing the Ignition Control Module and coil, if the problem persists:

. Ensure fuel filter has been recently changed.

I'm inclined to suspect a degraded ignition system. 90%+ of "crank but won't start" situations are electrical-related, not fuel.

Your distributor might be going out.

I have a fuel pump issue and it was replaced.

I have a fuel pump issue and it was replaced.

But the problem was with the mail relay. It was repaired and now my car starts every time.
