HI, We had a home inspection yesterday and that night the water pressure was awful. Water would start strong and then down significantly and then it would pick up again and repeat. We checked the gauge and the pump would kick on at 40 and kick off at 65 then drop down to 50. During a shower I had to turn off the water and wait a bit for the water pressure to return. We have never had water pressure problems. What could be the problem?

It sounds almost like the check valve won't hold the pressure back at 65 PSI and then closes at 50 PSI. How old is your home and what material are the water pipea? Copper? Plastic or galvanized? When you stop to think that 45 PSI is the average house pressure then you shouldn't have to wait for pressure to build back up while you're in the shower. Minerals built up in the water pipes would give you the same problem as you have with the exception of the pressure falling back. Let's hear back from you. Tom

Maybe I seeing something that isn't here but you say you had a home inspection yesterday. I get the impression that you have live in the home for some time and this problem just started. Is it possible that something was done during the home inspection to change something?

THanks... They did a water quality test but our realtor said it was not for a long time and they only ran a couple things at once. It was fine in the morning before I left and then the water pressure was down when we got home after the inspection. Any ideas?

Could be coincidence but I'd check all valves. Sure sounds like someone fiddled with something. Don't have any open valves at a remote building do you? Could you have a bursted pipe somewhere that you have previously turn off?
