Can anyyone please help me understand proving trig identities, or at least if you could help in any type of trig stuff... :confused:

Yes, most likely, if you would post a problem.

You need to know your formulae and apply them to solve your proof problem. The thing is to 'see' how to solve it. Don't worry, it'll come with practice.

Yes, most likely, if you would post a problem.
(sinx+1)/cosX+cotX=tanx
trig identity proof
and
let tan(theta)=5/12 with (theta) in Q I
find sin2(theta)
are the two problems that I can't get

Is that \frac{sin(x)+1}{cos(x)+cot(x)}=tan(x)
I believe it is.
Change the cot(x) on the left in the denominator to \frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)}
Then, simplify and factor a little. You will see another 1+sin(x) terms and they will cancel.
The tan will reveal itself as \frac{sin(x)}{cos(x)}
