My husband and a friend replaced our disposal a few days ago. Now the water won't drain out of the dishwasher. The water is standing at the bottom of the dishwasher. HELP!

The dishwasher drain needs a "high loop" or an "air gap" to function, otherwise the water drains back into the sump.

The high loop or air gap is needed to stop back siphoning. However, I suspect your hubby was not aware that there is a steel plug in the disposal that must be punched out if you have a dishwasher. Did he read that part in the installation directions?

Bob and KISS both nailed it. You must have a air gap installed. There are two types of air gaps. A counter top, (see image) and a high loop, (see image). I recommend the high loop for two reasons. 1) Much easier to install **and** 2) less service problems. Also, as Bob pointed out, check to make sure you removed the knock out plug from the disposal. Good luck, Tom
