How do share a scanner on networking? Cabled and wireless.

The software that comes with the scanner should be capable of allowing the scanner to be shared across the network. Not all of the "All-in-One" devices are network capable as far as being able to network the other devices besides the printer. The scanner and the fax are not so readily networked.
