An airplane flying at a speed of 360 mi/hr flies from a point A in the direction 137 degrees for 30 minutes and then flies in the direction 227 degrees for 45 minutes. Approximate, to the nearest mile, the distance from the airplane to A.

distance = rate * time

You can figure out the distances traveled. You've been given a couple of angles. Draw a picture. You've got a triangle on your hands, here. It's not just any triangle. It's one of the best kinds of triangles. Just draw it.

Hey, but it's easier because of the 90 degrees! It's now that I realise that! Thanks galactus! I wouldn't have know that if you didn't get into this useless cosine rule for that problem. ;)
