I consider myself a very independent, strong female... but it never fails, as soon as I get close to a guy, I get incredibly jealous. And to make things worse, my friends agree with me and tell me that they would get mad about stuff my guy does too... BUT he says I'm crazy and he can't handle it. I do feel crazy a lot of times, but I can't help it. He checks out pretty girls... and yes, I check out guys... but I still feel like he likes he wants to be with them, rather than with me. At this point, he probably does, since I'm driving him crazy. Why do I even care when he looks at girls? Thinking about it, I feel stupid. When it happens though, I get really aggravated, and then sad. Something is wrong with me and I don't know how to change it. Help!!

Nothing is wrong with you. You just have personal issues you need to deal with, so your life can be what you want it to be.

You can change your behavior yourself, or..

You can seek some professional help.

Allow me to help you out on this as I am pretty much an expert on jealousy now ha ha.

First off, my jealousy and insecurites did in fact cost me my relationship with my ex, which is a path you are going down. Whenever he looks at another girl, just remember that he is coming home to you. To look(window shop) is human nature, it does not mean we act upon it. You admitted that you look at other guys, does that mean you are going to go and cheat?

Second, don't listen to your friends. Especially if they are single, because misery loves company. There are great support efforts you can extend your reach to. There is a book called "overcoming jealousy and possessiveness" and several websites about the issue. If they do not help, please seek counseling as it is a self esteem and self insecurity issue that needs to be dealt with.
