Hello,

I am in L-1 and applied for COS to F-1. I had previously applied for I-140 but withdrew it before it was approved.
With my COS request I included two letters from past employers outside the US with firm job offers after my Masters program completion.

Do you think I have any chance to get the COS approved?

Thanks!

To change status to F-1, you need to prove that;

You are financially covered during the program.
You have ties to your home country.

If you can provide sufficient documents regarding the above mentioned, you should be able to obtain F-1 without any difficulties.

lawanwadee,

Thank you for the reply. Even if I had submitted (and later withdrawn) my I-140? Isn't that a "showstopper" for my application, can I still hope?

1. Can you please indicate how am I supposed to show ties to my country? I sent them a letter from my bank overseas that states that my account opened in 2000 has been in good standing, but what else? I have no real estate properties in my name.
2. It has been 2.5 months since I submitted my application and haven't heard back from USCIS. Can I assume that they did not need any additional information from me, or simply that they haven't looked at my case?

I appreciate the support.
