Hi I have a 11 n half week old staff puppy. Yesterday he woke up and was quieter than usual, after being up for about 4 hours he started being sick but it looked like phlegm, had absolutely nothing else in it. Anyway thinking he may of just ate something I sat with him etc and he went to sleep. About half hour later he brought the same stuff up again an then was shaking, not a lot just the kind they do when they shiver, bt the time my other half got home hour later Kai had just had really bad diareha (sp) never smelt anything like it, looking up on the net I found sum info an said to my partner that if there's blood in there we need ring vet asap.
Well there wasn't but soon after he did another poo and there was a little blood in there so immediately my boyfriend phoned the vet an explained the situation to him. The vet said going on what we told him an the fact that Kai has been vaccinated he believed kai had Gastris/Gastronitus and to starve him for 24hours then just feed him rice an chicken.
After that he wasn't sick anymore but had 2 more diareha's both with a bit of blood in, I slept with him during the night an he was fine.
He seems a lot better in himself today as all he did yesterday was lay down an sleep. He is bitin an scratchin the walls again now lol but after I gave him a small bit of chicken and rice little while ago he did a poo which was still diareha but had some harder poo in it, but also had a little bit of blood in it.
Now I'm not sure whether to phone the vet again as there's still a little amount of blood or as he seems a lot better an hasn't been sick again leave it and see how he is tomorrow as my boyfriend said the vet said to him yesterday some more may still come out as he getting it out his system?!
Also my friend said her dog was like that when he had worms, kai was wormed 2/3 weeks ago but he has been allowed out for walks since then so maybe he does have worms but how long should I wait from him being ill to giving him a worming tablet as I don't want to make him ill again but then that may be wats causing the problem?!
Sorry about the very long post lol

As per vet, take all food away for 24 hours, then feed only rice for about a day or two and then introduce meat with the rice after that. How big is this puppy? When making the rice double the water amount so it is quite soupy. I would not suggest another worm pill.. they do last a while. If after 48 hours there is no improvement in the diahhrea, call the vet again, and suggest a stool sample to determine if there are worms or not.
What kind of a dog and how big?

He is a staffordshire bull terrier and when we had him weighed on the 3rd he weighed 6.37kg. He looks really skinny today after yesterday, its horrible though he has really livened up this afternoon so hopefully he is going to be OK :). He is due to be wormed this Thursday anyway but as he has been ill should I hold it off until next week?
Thanks for the advice :)
