In 100 years, 90% of the population may speak it. But you or I wouldn't recognize all of the words in it anymore. It's possible that most of the Earth's population will speak Arabic or Mandarin too.

Any language accepted by majority will be OK . English is my favorite but I also have sympathy for esperanto .

Yeah, I think so... but currently, English is the second most spoken language in the world.
1. Mandarin
2. English
3. Hindi
4. Spanish
Seeing as how the Chinese' economy is currently kicking the US's... time to brush up on that Mandarin.

Well, one of the reasons that Mandarin is spoken more is due to their high population.
However, you'd be surprised at how many Americans actually speak Chinese. My university alone (business school) has about 60% of the students taking Chinese... due to business.

My country historically had been divided to german and italian influenced regions but now there is virtually no man who at least passively don't understand english .

In my opinion, I don't see English as being the primary language of the world nor the most known by people. Granted, most of the new scientific words are written in English, but most people aren't going to be using those kinds of words.
I would think that something like German would be a much more stable language that the majority might know and be able to understand and use, if we are talking about a world language here that most people might be able to use and understand.
Just my opinion...
