Hello everyone,

I am going to move out of my parents house soon, and I'm going to have to move in an apartment or a house with roomates..

My sister suggested that I only move in with girls, because living with guys is really hard and horrible.. like the bachelor type guys..

But what if it's a guy and a girl roommate (not a couple) and they're professionals and not player type guys.. do you think it would still be hard?

Does anyone have an experience with this? Or stories, or suggestions?

Thanks!

Oh P.S. I'm a girl :)

Living with ANY roommates is difficult. Lifestyles often clash. Be careful of who you choose.

I agree. Any roommate situation can be difficult if you do not see eye to eye. Go at it slow and choose carefully. Might think of a trial basis before you commit.

That trial basis idea is a good one. Perhaps invite the person of your choosing to live in your room with you at the rents house, and if that works then it might be okay in an apartment.

Thanks for the advice!

But my parents would never allow a stranger in their home, lol.. I guess I'll see how our chemistry works out.. and it's probably wise to stick to females right?

One piece of advice, make sure to get a place where you would each have your own bathrooms.

One other thought here. Do not do a lease unless it is a very short term lease like three months. If you do a year or even a six month lease, make sure both, or all, parties names are on the lease as being equally responsible for the lease payments. That way if something does go bad, everyone has to still pay even if someone leaves.
